‘Twenty Mile Bend’
This landmark is the first bend in State Road 80, halfway between the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Okeechobee.
It marks the end of developed land and the beginning of the rural farmlands known as the Glades. From the air, it directs incoming planes to their runway at Palm Beach International. The location also serves as a milestone for our runner, Eugene, who has been running 3 miles a day for the last 50 years. Surrounded by endless straight roads that vanish into the horizon, it's easy to imagine how far Eugene has run.
